Gun Club Tribute

Description

A tribute I did for work at the flowershop.

London All Guns Shooting Club Crest, it was a little
fiddly because the size was only 18 X 24 inches.
I'll write down how I did it, in case I have to do one again :)
I sawed a board backing to support the crumbly
designer oasis board then taped and screwed them together.
The oasis is hidden by plaited ribbon, I hid the staples with sequins
held in place with sewing needles. The edges are covered with aspidistra leaves, I holepunched a few holes to mimic gunshot
holes and put a few silversprayed dressmakers pins in for bullets (under the leaves I had sprayed black) The crest is raised and the oasis is hidden by a second row of ribbon. I sprayed the chrysanthemum green, I don't like sprayed flowers, but this shade wasn't too bad. The ribbon I sewed the fabric to shape and attached a wire on the back to get a 3D shape and to hold it in place. I had a plastic with a sticky back and I drew the letters on that, cut it out and then stuck it to the fabric. I then could stencil in the letters with acrylic paint, I didn't do this before, but it worked well. The pistol was from the poundstore, I primed it with gesso and painted it and covered the handle with adhesive backing woodgrain, a wire threaded in quite easily through the barrel and out where the hammer is, for attaching. The clayshooting discs I did by putting jamjarlids and plastic saucers together and spraying them black, I could drill holes in the saucers to put wire through to hold them in place.
For the rifles I found an image online and just altered it a bit in photoshop, and made a mirror image one, by doing them in 4 pieces I could get away with just one colour copy. The I jigsawed out the shapes on some thin wood I found on the street and glued it together. I used this modge podge glue and with it I could paint a layer on top as well, to seal it, in case it rained. On the back I pressed in thumbtacks to hold the wire in place. In the middle was meant to be a gun seen from above, but I just put some bamboo sticks in. The horn I made from two blocks of fimo clay rolled together. I popped aluminium foil inside, so that it wouldn't collapse when baking it in oven. After I painted it a little with acrylics and drilled holes (it drilled easily) for the leather strap and to attach it to the board.
That's pretty much it :) I was pleased with it, sure it is tacky, these kind of tributes always are, but not too bad.
